Echidna Tracks now includes submissions from poets worldwide. From Issue 17, the publication is available only in book form and is freely accessible on our Books page of the Echidna Tracks website.
Echidna Tracks was a collection of Australian haiku up to and including Issue 16, which was available as posts first daily and later weekly on the website, as well as in book form. The website collection is indexed by topic and searchable by category. We included haiku about Australia, mostly written by Australian residents, as well as some by those who have visited and written about their experiences. Australia, in the twenty-first century, is a vibrant multicultural society. We have celebrated, through the haiku and senryu collected on this website, the diversity of lifestyles, values, characters, customs, cultures, and historical experiences of the people inhabiting Australia, as well as the diversity of our landscapes, flora, and fauna.
We honour the enduring connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to this land, culture and community.
Submissions for Issues of Echidna Tracks will be requested in April and October each year. In April and October, a form for submitting haiku will be available from the Submissions page.
Comments will be allowed for fourteen days on each new post. Please be respectful of others. Objectionable comments will not be permitted or retained. We make no attempt to define ‘objectionable’ but rely on readers’ good sense.
